Tips for Winning

Here are some tips on improving your results and thus increasing your chances of winning:

Use the Database

Our Full Tilt Poker database has a lot of useful information about past money winners in FTOPS. While past performance is no assurance of future success, the best players tend to do better over the long run. Players who demonstrate that they make the money and go deep in prior tournaments area good choice for doing so again.

Cut and Paste

To avoid wasting time while filling out your rosters, use the cut and paste functions on your computer. You can find poker player names in a variety of places: on the MyRosters page (the sidebar on the left lists many FT pros), the list of over 23,000 FT players (which is linked to at the top of the left sidebar on the MyRosters page) and, as discussed above, in our poker database. (Opening the 23,000 name list or the poker database in a separate tab or window can save you time while cutting and pasting.)

You can type a name directly into the roster space, however for the initial launch we are only allowing player names that we recognize from our master list. We are updating that list periodically by pulling names from the FTOPS preregisration lists, but this process is not automated yet and so may be off. Furthermore, not every Full Tilt Pro is marked as a pro. (Heh! It's our soft launch and everything isn't perfect just yet!) The name on your roster must be entered exactly correctly -- upper/lower case, spaces and the like must match up. (We will improve that as soon as we can.)

Don't Cut It Too Close!

The temptation is to wait until the last moment to enter your team selections. Please avoid this trap! This is a new site and we have not fully tuned it for a lot of players. The server may get slow as we approach the deadlines for team submissions. Also consider that the Full Tilt server time and our own server time may be off by a bit. Avoid the rush! At least get a provisional team in place early. You can change it later assuming that you still have time.

Your edits to your team do not take effect until you hit the "Update Team" button. Don't forget to use it!

Remember that the Bronze member cutoff time is 20 minutes prior to the tournament start time. Silver members cutoff time is 2 minutes after the tournament starts.
